Il settore delle consegne a domicilio, in aumento gli ultimi anni, ha totalmente ha cambiato le abitudini di consumo dei francesi . Si tratta di un mercato che comprende diversi tipi di attori: consegne in bicicletta di piatti da ristorante, servizi di catering, ristoranti con i propri autisti di consegna, ecc.

Oggi, la consegna di pasti a domicilio non è più limitata alla consegna di hamburger, pizze e sushi, ma si è aperta a un vasta gamma di ristoranti Questo risponde alle nuove aspettative dei consumatori che vogliono godere di nuove esperienze culinarie, mangiare più sano e ordinare in modo facile e veloce. Se alcuni attori si distinguono come Deliveroo, Uber Eats o Just Eat, il mercato è in costante evoluzione con l'emergere di nuovi giocatori come il rivenditori di massa che stanno iniziando a consegnare pasti preparati a casa tua, o ristoranti fantasma (ristoranti virtuali disponibili solo attraverso Internet per la consegna online).

A differenza della maggior parte dei settori economici, il mercato della consegna dei pasti è guidato dalla crisi del coronavirus che ha portato alla chiusura dei ristoranti fisici e al divieto del consumo in loco.
