Una residencia de estudiantes es un complejo inmobiliario colectivo (generalmente compuesto de 80 a 120 unidades) destinado a alojar a una población estudiantil. La ley exige que el 70% de la población del edificio sean estudiantes.

Existen 3 posibilidades para encontrar alojamiento para un estudiante en Francia:

  • Residencias de estudiantes privado, CROUS, albergue, dormitorio
  • Stock privado de alquiler Solo, en pareja o con compañero de piso
  • Vivienda familiar

El mercado está impulsado por el creciente número de estudiantes nacionales e internacionales. Al inicio del curso académico 2019-2020, había más de 2,72 millones de estudiantes en Francia, frente a los 2,55 millones de 2015 . Este aumento se debe al incremento del número de estudiantes extranjeros en el país y a la prolongación de la enseñanza superior, así como al aumento constante del número de bachilleres (es decir, del número de estudiantes que pueden acceder a la enseñanza superior).
