The global wind turbine manufacturing market is witnessing significant growth, with a notable shift towards offshore wind energy garnering double-digit growth since 2015. Demand is particularly strong in Asia, which is propelling the market to an expected size of 1,107 GW in 2030 from 273 GW in 2012. France, ranking fourth in Europe, aims to achieve a combined onshore and offshore wind power capacity of 25,000 MW by 2020, with wind energy contributing over 5% to the country's annual electricity consumption. Dominated by key players such as Vestas, General Electric, Siemens, and Gamesa, the market is tough for new entrants, but energy companies like Engie are trying to enter this promising industry. Despite the dominance of onshore wind power, offshore projects are becoming a significant part of the growth in wind power, although they currently represent only 5% of the market..### French Wind Energy Market: Trends and Dynamics The French wind energy market is witnessing significant growth and transformation, propelled by the global shift towards renewable energy sources and the country's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. France has set ambitious targets, aiming to reach between 15 and 25 gigawatts (GW) of installed onshore wind power capacity and between 5 and 7 GW of offshore wind capacity, culminating in a total installed base exceeding 25 GW. By the year 2030, the global market is expected to expand by more than fourfold, with installed capacity likely to exceed 1,000 GW, a substantial increase from the 273 GW reported in 2012. The expansion of the wind market in France is creating job opportunities and driving the consolidation of the sector. The nation is currently ranked fourth in Europe, trailing behind Germany, Spain, and the United Kingdom. Wind energy contributes to over 5% of the annual French electricity consumption, emphasizing its growing role in the national energy mix. A look at the market leaders reveals that the manufacture of wind turbines is dominated by a few key players, including Vestas, General Electric, Siemens, and Gamesa. These industry giants present significant barriers to entry for new participants. Nonetheless, energy companies like Engie are recognizing the potential in wind power and are attempting to penetrate this lucrative market. Despite representing only a small fraction of the market today, offshore wind energy is rapidly emerging as a vital growth area, exhibiting double-digit expansion since 2015. However, it poses unique technological challenges that demand specialized knowledge and skills from suppliers. Within France, governmental support has bolstered the wind energy sector, with public aid initiatives contributing to the development of new projects. Wind energy's value chain has been well-established across various regions in France, and the evolving business models reflect the operational intricacies of wind farm cost structures. The maintenance and servicing sector also presents opportunities, aligning with the increased focus on sustainability in energy generation. In terms of the regulatory landscape, France has set a framework to govern the establishment and operation of wind turbines within its territories. This tailored regulatory structure ensures that the burgeoning wind energy market thrives in a controlled and environmentally responsible manner. As we move toward a greener future, the French wind energy market stands as a testament to the country's dedication to sustainable development and its pivotal role in the transition towards cleaner energy sources..### Leading Contenders in the Global Wind Turbine Manufacturing Arena The landscape of the wind turbine manufacturing market is characterized by the presence of formidable players, each contributing to an ever-growing sector that harnesses the power of nature to meet our energy needs. In this verdant arena, a few names stand out not only for their market share but also for the technological advancements and the range of services they offer. #### Vestas Wind Systems A/S – The Pioneers in Wind Power Vestas, with its origins rooted in Denmark, has ascended to the apex of the wind energy industry, becoming synonymous with sustainable energy solutions. 1 Market summary

1.1 INTRODUCTION

A wind turbine is a device that transforms the kinetic energy of the wind into mechanical energy, thanks to the movement of a turbine: it is necessary to distinguish onshore wind power and offshore wind energy (at sea). The wind turbine manufacturing market therefore includes the main manufacturers involved in the design, construction and installation of wind turbines.

The wind power market should be multiplied by more than 4 by 2030 thanks to strong Asian demand, and global installed capacity will reach 1,107 gigawatts (GW) in 2030 compared to 273 GW in 2012. The 2020 objective set by the government in France is set at 19,000 MW of capacity installed in onshore wind power and 6,000 at sea ( offshore wind turbine ), i.e. a total installed base of more than 25,000 MW in France. France is now ranked in the 4th in Europe in the sector, behind Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom. In France, wind energy accounts for more than 5% of French electricity consumption each year and the sector is in full consolidation and creates jobs.

The market for the manufacture of wind turbines is dominated by some leading manufacturers, leaving little room for new entrants. The market leaders among turbine manufacturers are Vestas, General Electric, Siemens or Gamesa. Other players are trying to penetrate the market, seeing wind power as a growth driver for their company, such as energy companies like Engie

The exponential development of wind energy, particularly offshore, is a tremendous growth driver for the wind turbine manufacturers' market. The development of offshore wind energy however, requires specific know-how and skills. Even if it only represents 5% of the market today The offshore wind energy sector is a growth driver (double-digit growth since 2015) but this implies new technological challenges for component suppliers.
