The market for bed bases - Italy

A bed frame or bed base is the part of the bed used to place the mattress base, and includes the head, foot, and side rails. The global bed frame market can be segmented by product type (wood, plastic, and metal), application (single bed frame, loft bed frame, bunk bed frame, and adjustable bed frame), and geographic region. In Italy, the bed frame industry is highly fragmented, with about 900 companies operating in the territory. Of course, these entities are mostly small companies specializing in such production, but a new trend is emerging in the market. In fact, given the high quality of the products and the reputation that Made in Italy has around the world, these small companies have been able to export their products to the Chinese market. In particular, Italian nets are highly sought after by the upper-middle class, who consider them to be prestigious and quality for sleeping. The presence of Italian companies in the sector in foreign markets is already significant. In addition to the new frontier of China, sales of Italian products are widespread in many other areas of the world, but, in particular, in the Middle East and the Orient (especially South Korea, Malaysia and Mongolia), Central Africa and, of course, Europe, where the main markets are Germany, Switzerland and Austria. However, European outlets still prevail, partly because proximity favors the marketing of products that occupy a certain space and are, therefore, more difficult to sell if the destinations are far away. In Italy, a group of 27 companies has managed to expand its marketing and business in Asia, and accounts for more than 50 percent of the turnover of the Italian bed net market.
