1.1 INTRODUÇÃO

A mercado de árvores de Natal em França inclui a produção e venda de árvores de Natal a nível nacional: as árvores de Natal podem ser natural ou artificial de acordo com a preferência do consumidor. Existem várias variedades de árvores de Natal naturais, como abeto e Abeto Nordmann (as mais populares), mas também Abeto de Pectina e Abeto de Abeto.

Cerca de 5 milhões de famílias compram anualmente uma árvore de Natal, à qual se juntam as compras de árvores de Natal às autoridades locais, municípios e empresas: o pool de clientes é, portanto, global e diversificado. Os compradores mostraram um preferência pela árvore natural em detrimento dos abetos artificiais, que representam menos de 20% das vendas anuais. Apreciada pela sua força e longevidade, a Nordmann fir domina o mercado com mais de 50% do volume de negócios do mercado (em volume) muito à frente da abeto.
