Summary of our market study

The global fiberglass market has experienced substantial growth, with China leading as the top producer and holding a 31% market share. The market is estimated to have a CAGR of 4.3% during 2018-2028. France, as a key player, holds roughly 8.3% of the total lens production worldwide, with a market size of about 800 million euros. Major leaders include Saint Gobain and its subsidiary Isover, Owens Corning, and Xella. Glass fiber finds applications in various sectors, with buildings and infrastructure accounting for 29% of global demand. The transportation sector, particularly aeronautics and automotive industries, is also a significant consumer. French exports of glass fibers are primarily directed to Germany, Spain, and Belgium, with imports mainly coming from Belgium and Spain. Industry challenges include competition from ecological insulators like wood wool and hemp. Regulations supporting energy renovation have emerged, offering tax incentives and loans to encourage energy-efficient retrofitting, thus potentially increasing the demand for insulation materials, including fiberglass. Data starting from 2020 shows that these trends are likely part of an ongoing pattern of growth and adaptation in the market..The fiberglass market in the concerned country has seen significant trends in various sectors such as construction, transportation, and electronics due to its properties like insulation, reinforcement, and optical transmission. Demand is particularly high in the building and infrastructure sector, accounting for nearly 30% of the total demand, where fiberglass is commonly used in thermal insulation materials like glass wool as well as in certain types of glass-fiber reinforced concrete and wall coverings. In the transport sector, which represents about 25% of the fiberglass demand, the aeronautics industry utilizes fiberglass in aircraft fuselages, particularly in the hull and heat shields. The automotive industry also uses fiberglass in the production of some bodywork and vehicle interior parts. Furthermore, the electronic and electrical industries demand fiberglass for its excellent light and signal conduction properties, using it in medical endoscopy and telecommunications. The sports and leisure sector makes up roughly 14% of the fiberglass demand, with the material being found in equipment that requires a combination of flexibility and rigidity, such as athletic poles and tennis rackets. Additionally, about 11% of the demand stems from the industrial equipment sector, where fiberglass is featured in urban lighting and chemical glassware, for example. On the supply side, several key players dominate the market, with Saint Gobain and its subsidiary Isover at the forefront, followed by other significant companies like Owens Corning and Xella. Despite representing less than 10% of the global lens production, the French production of glass fibers forms a crucial segment of the market. Although the fiberglass market is witnessing positive growth, it faces emerging indirect competition from eco-friendly insulation materials such as wood wool and hemp, which offer advantages due to their lower environmental impact and regulations supporting energy-efficient building renovations. The fiberglass market has seen a mixed pattern of production indices across the region, with variations in manufacturing output, trade balance, and revenue growth. Overall, the market is influenced by state support in the energy renovation sector, pushing for advancements in fiberglass applications while also contending with the increasing popularity of alternative, eco-friendly materials..### "Key Manufacturers Shaping the Fiberglass Market Landscape" The fiberglass market is influenced by several prominent manufacturers, each contributing to the industry's dynamics with their specialized products and manufacturing expertise. Summary and extracts

1 Market summary

1.1 Definition and scope of study

Fiberglass is a filamentous material obtained by stretching softened or melted glass [Larousse]. Since its patenting in 1930, fiberglass has become an essential element of insulation and construction in many industries: buildings, transport, electricity, sports, leisure and industrial equipment.

The manufacture of glass fibers in France is included under the code 23.14Z in the nomenclature of French activities (INSEE). We will therefore focus on the companies included in this class. The fiberglass market is a sub-segment of the glass and glassware market which is itself included in non-metallic mineral products.

France counted 200 companies in the glass market in 2016, and, therefore, less than 200 companies in the glass fiber market, which makes it a market with relatively few players involved. The market leaders are Saint Gobain and its subsidiary Isover, Owens Corning (United States) and Xella (Germany). The French production of glass fibers represents approximately 8,3% of the global market for total lens production.

The market is driven upwards by the following factors: very dynamic aeronautics and automotive industries on the one hand, and energy renovation and new construction on the other hand. The latter segment faces an imposing regulatory framework.
