El mercado inmobiliario comprende la compra, venta y alquiler, el arrendamiento de propiedades y condominios para uso comercial y personal del hogar. Un actor importante en el mercado inmobiliario es la promoción inmobiliaria, un proceso empresarial que incluye las actividades que van desde la renovación y el arrendamiento de edificios existentes hasta la compra de terrenos en bruto y la venta de terrenos o parcelas urbanizadas a terceros.
El mercado de la promoción inmobiliaria engloba a todos los profesionales cuya misión principal es comercializar los espacios construidos, convirtiendo las ideas del papel en realidad. Aunque el desarrollo de bienes raíces no es lo mismo que la construcción, muchos desarrolladores también manejan el proceso de construcción - e incluso el proceso de venta como las agencias de bienes raíces. Sin embargo, los promotores suelen ser los que presentan los mayores riesgos en la creación o renovación de un bien inmueble. Por lo tanto, este tipo de inversores siempre están buscando las mejores oportunidades de mercado y los mercados que parecen ofrecer un buen equilibrio entre el riesgo y el rendimiento.
