À la frontière entre la cosmétique et la dermatologie, la dermocosmétique désigne l’ensemble des produits qui répondent à des besoins spécifiques de la peau .Ils sont souvent recommandés par des professionnels de santé (médecins, dermatologues, etc.). Ces produits peuvent nettoyer, hydrater ou protéger des parties spécifiques de la peau ou des cheveux.  

Le marché mondial des dermocosmétiques est en forte croissance ces dernières années. La demande pour ce type de produits à consonnance « santé » ne se dément pas, en particulier le segment « premium skincare » qui croit plus vite que le marché de la cosmétique dans son ensemble. La consommation globale de cosmétiques a plongé de 10% en 2020 à cause de la crise sanitaire, des restrictions, de la baisse des contacts sociaux. Les possibilités de sorties ont considérablement baissé la demande de cosmétiques.

Cette demande a notablement diminué dans les régions où le confinement a été le plus intense. Toutefois, malgré une baisse du marché global, le marché de la dermocosmétique a été l’unique segment en croissance. La demande de produits qui visent à prendre soin de la peau a progressé ces deux dernières années. 

En Espagne, après une chute de 10% de la filière de la cosmétique en 2020, la reprise a été forte en 2021 avec une reprise de 9,1% des ventes. Les ventes en ligne ont progressé de 54% en 2020, tandis que les produits de soin pour la peau sont devenus le premier poste de dépense, signe d’engouement pour les produits dermoscosmétiques.
