The Student Residential Market - Spain

MARKET SUMMARY

1.1 Presentation

The student housing market is in full growth worldwide . This follows the increase in the number of students engaged in higher education, both globally and in Spain, as well as the flow of foreign students. As in supply cannot meet demand of student housing in many geographical regions, private investors have seen this as an opportunity to an opportunity in the real estate sector

In Spain, this market has grown in recent years and has attracted the attention of investors. The two cities of greatest interest are Madrid and Barcelona but they are not the only ones. Since the country is considered a preferred destination for international students and student enrolment is high, the demand for a place to live while studying is growing and cannot be met by student rooms ( colegios mayores ) or by the universities themselves. In some Spanish cities, the ratio of students to number of beds reaches 38.1 This shows that there is a lot of room for investment in student residences.

In Spain, students have the choice between private rental of an apartment or room (alone or in shared accommodation), looking for a room in a student residence ( colegios mayores ) or on the university campus, or the search for private residences for students . Student residences have the advantage of being specialized for students, offering a social environment and complementary services designed for its young and studious clientele - study rooms, restaurants, weekly cleaning and other services that accompany students in their school life

In addition, as these are student-only facilities, there is no external competition with other segments of the housing market, which is the case with platforms such as Airbnb or Uniplaces.

The stationary toilet market - France

A highly quantified study. Despite the investments made by local authorities, the mistrust of public toilets is confirmed. The smart toilet market has not yet taken off.
