World leader in cheese production
Founded in 1956, Savancia (formerly Bongrain) is an independent family-owned group, listed on Euronext Paris, specializing in dairy products. Today, the group has two divisions:
- A cheese business (57.7% of sales in 2018): with brands such as Caprice des Dieux.
- A "Dairy" business (45.1% of sales in 2018): butter, cream, ingredients and dairy products for retailers, professionals (restaurateurs, etc.) or food industry manufacturers.
The group has over 70 production sites and sells its products in more than 120 countries.
The Savencia Group is present in the world of chocolate through Savencia Gourmet, an entity that owns several production subsidiaries in France, including :
- Valrhona, which produces high-end chocolates for bakeries, pastry shops, restaurants and other professionals, as well as for consumers (bonbons de chocolat, chocolats de dégustation, chocolats de pâtisserie, etc.) at its plant in Tain l'Hermitage (26)
- Révillon Chocolatier, which makes chocolates for Christmas (95% of sales) and Easter (5% of sales) at its site in Le Coteau (42). This site has a production capacity of over 6,000 tons a year.
- Chocolat Weiss, which produces close to 1,000 tonnes of chocolate couvertures, moldings and bonbons annually at its Saint-Étienne (42) site
- Chocolatree, a specialist in high-end chocolate decoration (pure cocoa butter printing, chocolate decorations, etc.)
The Group increased its stake in Compagnie Fromagère in Tunisia to 50% and in Ferrari in Italy to 49%.
