Founded in 1986, the French company has become one of the top three video game publishers with flagship mobile licenses such as Watch Dogs, Splinter Cell, Far Cry, Angry Shark and Might and Magic. Ubisoft is France's largest mobile games company. The company first developed in Europe before expanding internationally to Japan, the United States and Australia.

The company generates most of its sales from the distribution of its games, mainly console games. It has also developed comic books and numerous derivative products based on its numerous franchises. In 2011, Ubisoft acquired French company Owlient and Finnish company Redlynx.

In France, the development headquarters in Montreuil houses the mobile and console game development teams. However, a significant part of development activity is carried out in portage with other Ubisoft studios abroad
