Founded in 1908, Lesieur is a major player in the French oil market.
Founded by Georges Lesieur and his three sons, the company opened its first factory in Dunkirk in 1911, benefiting from the boom in peanut exports from the East African coast.
The company diversified into mayonnaise, ready meals and sauces in plastic bottles in the 1960s and 1970s.
In the 1980s, the group bought out several French competitors, including William Saurin.
In the 1990s, the group launched its first low-fat oil, Isio 4, and in 2009 its first organic oil, Isio ActiStérol.

The plant-based market has grown by 5% in two years and is currently estimated at over 427 million euros, two-thirds of which is generated by fresh produce.
The Avril Group, home to Lesieur, acquired Vivien Paille in 2022, a company specializing in vegetables, cereals and rice.
With the edible oil market in decline, Lesieur sees Ma Popote as a growth driver.
The company forecasts that the vegetable market will account for 5% of its sales in two years' time.
