Thés Éléphant originated in the Provence-Alpes-Côte-D'Azur region, when brothers Pétrus and Digonnet set up their tea import and sales business in 1892. It was taken over by the Unilever group in 1975.

Its product range includes organic, fruity, wellness and classic infusions. These can be purchased on their website, although the vast majority of their products are sold in supermarkets and hypermarkets.

In 2016, the company undertook a complete overhaul of its packaging to attract a younger clientele, concerned with ingredients of natural origin and organic.

The company produces its infusions in France, but also in Unilever's other factories in England, Poland and Belgium, along with Lipton teas.

The Fralib factory (a Unilever division) is taken over by a scoop to prevent its closure
