Originally a local company, Loxam rapidly expanded into Brittany and the Loire-Atlantique region, until it was taken over by Lyonnaise des Eaux in 1978. In 1987, Loxam was acquired by the Origny Desvroise Group and became SAM Location (Loxam in 1994). Since then, the group has pursued its development through an ambitious policy of external growth.
For example, in 2016, Loxam made two major acquisitions in the lifting sector, with Lavendon in the UK and Hune in Spain, and Ramirent leader in northern European countries

Loxam is also present in the lifting and modular construction equipment rental market

Loxam has over 1,000 branches in 22 countries and is the world's 3rd largest rental company.

It has sales in France of around 1 billion euros

The company is owned by Gérard Desprez, its Chairman.
