Lipton was originally a tea company. Founded by Sir Thomas Johnstone Lipton in 1870, it produces mainly in Sri Lanka, but also in India, Kenya and China, and markets all types of tea (black, green, white) and infusions. It is also present in the iced tea and cold infusion sectors. Its most popular products are Lipton Yellow Label, created in 1890, and Lipton Iced Tea.

In 1991, the company was acquired by Unilever through an initial joint venture with PepsiCo. Today, its products can be found in over 150 countries.
