The company was founded in the United States in 1969 and expanded its services worldwide in the late 1970s. In 1979, under the name DHL Air Cargo, the company operated a route between the islands of the Hawaiian archipelago with two DC-3 and four DC-6 aircraft. Dasley and Hillblom personally managed these operations until bankruptcy in 1983. At its peak, DHL Air Cargo employed just over 100 employees, managers and pilots.
