With over 500 years of history, Beretta is one of the world's oldest armaments companies, owned by the Beretta family for 16 generations.
Originally producing harquebuses for the Republic of Venice, the company grew while remaining in its home village of Gardone, Lombardy. Today, parts production is fully industrialized, using high technology for precision weapons, but parts are still assembled by hand in the group's Italian factories.
Beretta produces firearms for the civilian and military sectors, and holds major contracts with various governments and armies.
Among its greatest successes, the company won a tender from the US police, who replaced their Colts with Berettas in 1985. The French army uses Beretta pistols on its Famas, and Beretta is a partner of the French Gendarmerie.
In 2018, Beretta exported 75% of its production to over 100 countries.
