H.I.G. Europe is a private equity fund focused on the buyout segment. Its core business is to buy companies, improve their performance and then sell them on.

H.I.G. Europe, a branch of H.I.G. Capital, manages a fund worth 31 billion euros. Turnarounds are not its speciality, as it offers 3 types of investment:

  • Management Buy-Out or recapitalization of established, profitable companies (capital transmission)
  • Special situations (companies in difficulty or losing profitability, turnaround capital)
  • Development capital for growth-oriented companies (expansion capital)

Since its creation, the fund has invested in over 300 companies in Europe, and almost as many disposals. Target companies are mainly SMEs and ETIs in Europe and the Americas.

H.I.G. Europe considers that it is possible to invest in a company that is losing momentum, as long as it has genuine turnaround potential (the difficulties must be strategic, operational or structural).

The fund invests in a wide range of sectors (aerospace, defense, healthcare, etc.), with companies as diverse as Alteo (aluminum), Synseal (extruded profiles), etc.
