Alexandre Bellangé, President of Belco, will be taking part in the Transat Café L'Or to promote the transport of coffee by sail and the Convention des entreprises pour le climat. 07/03/2025
- Belco aims to transport at least 80% of its coffee by sail by 2030.
- Transporting coffee by sail is three to four times more expensive than traditional methods
- Belco imports 6,500 tons of specialty coffee a year, generating sales of around 60 million euros.
- Since 2015, Belco has been sourcing directly from producers in Ethiopia, El Salvador, Colombia, and is in the process of acquiring its Brazilian partner.
- The company, based in Mérignac, currently employs 80 people, a number that will rise to around 100 after the integration of a Brazilian company.
