Worldpay Group plc was a payment processing company. It was listed on the London Stock Exchange until January 16, 2018, when it was acquired by Vantiv to form Worldpay, Inc.
WorldPay is a multi-currency online payment system that was launched in 1997. Founder Nick Ogden partnered with National Westminster Bank to provide the financial systems and Andrew Birch of Symbiant to provide the payment gateway for the user.
In July 2017, Vantiv announced its intention to acquire Worldpay for $10.4 billion. Subsequent announcements have indicated that the combined entity will be named "Worldpay", headquartered and listed in the United States but with internal operations in the United Kingdom.
On March 18, 2019, it was announced that Worldpay intends to merge with FIS based in Jacksonville, FL, valuing Worldpay at $43 billion.
