Recycling: Lumiver puts the spotlight on used batteries 13/04/2023

  • Lumiver specializes in waste collection, sorting and recovery.
  • The company is developing a process unique in Europe for recycling used fence batteries, known as zinc-air.
  • The new recycling line will be launched at Seclin, near Lille.
  • The total investment for this equipment is 800,000 euros, with a further 150,000 euros for research
  • Lumiver has been collecting batteries since 2007 and sorting them since 2011
  • The company processes a total of 4,000 tonnes of waste per year
  • Lumiver expects to increase its sales from 2 million euros in 2022 to 3 million
  • In France, 1.6 billion batteries of all kinds are sold every year, representing over 37,000 tonnes.
  • Currently, 15,554 tonnes of batteries are collected and processed.
