1.1 INTRODUCTION

The vaccination is a process of introducing an external agent (the vaccine) into a living organism to create a positive immune response. The antibodies are biological molecules involved in immunity, mainly used in prevention in the context of vaccination. An antibody is thus a protein (globulin) directly produced by the immunological system of an organism that is intended to react in the presence of an antigen (a substance foreign to the human immunological system). Vaccines differ according to their target and their mandatory nature. Indeed, we can distinguish between vaccines mandatory (BCG, tetanus, diphtheria, polio), vaccines recommended (Hepatitis A and B, measles, rubella), vaccines for travelers (cholera, yellow fever, etc.) and vaccines for elderly people (shingles and flu)

The global vaccine industry has seen its revenues almost double in recent years, showing the positive momentum of the market. At the moment, 5 large pharmaceutical companies share 80% in the global vaccine and antibody market (including Novartis, Roche and Biogen). The major names in the pharmaceutical industry are also engaged in a partnership approach to produce antibodies at the lowest cost.

The progress of the medical research are a growth driver for the vaccine industry, which now focuses on serious and treatable infections: herpes, hepatitis, HIV, etc. However, vaccines do have a volatile reputation over the years: the French no longer know whether or not to get vaccinated to prevent certain types of diseases that are not well known to the general public ( scandals related to Influenza A among others).
