Contrary to a persistent rumour, rosé wine is not made from a mixture of white and red wine but is the subject of a complex elaboration, there are in particular two methods of production:

  • The direct pressing method
  • The bleeding method

In a wine market that is suffering from the slow but steady decline in wine consumption in France The rosé wine market is an exception, this segment is growing rapidly, both in volume and value.

Considered festive, convivial, simple and accessible, in spite of a marked premiumisation in recent years and the appearance of rosé champagne, rosé wine is becoming more and more appealing. While its public is growing, rosé wine remains a popular choice much appreciated by millennials, women and consumers of the beautiful days . Indeed, sales are highly correlated with the climate, sunny days and holidays favour sales for a wine that is frequently drunk as an aperitif in an environment conducive to sharing.

France is the world's leading producer and consumer of rosé and exports part of its production, in particular in the USA where 65% of Millennials drink rosé and the market has grown from 50% in 2019 . Finally, near the a third of the products sold today have the Bio label despite a higher average selling price. Product quality and diversification of supply remain paramount to succeed in a market that, as it grows, is becoming more competitive.
