1.1 Definition and scope of study

The tailor-made suit designates the realization of a suit adapted to the morphology and desires of the buyer . However, it is possible to distinguish between "made-to-measure" and "half-measure":

Made to measure (or great measure) requires the creation of a new model created for each customer. It represents, therefore, a long process that begins with an initial appointment and involves intermediate fittings.

- In the case of "half-size", the tailor starts from an existing model and then makes anatomical changes (short sleeves, shape of the back, shoulders...) and those that are in line with the customer's tastes (curved cut, colors...).

The global costume market is dynamic with a forecast of a compound annual growth rate of 4.1% between 2020 and 2026 . The sub-segment of tailored suits is also expected to follow this dynamic with the growing desire of customers to have a quality garment adapted to their morphology. In terms of geographic distribution of the market, Europe is the main consumption region for suits, followed by North America. 

Due to increased consumer awareness in terms of fashion, the Italian market for tailored suits is growing. This trend is also confirmed, in particular, by an increasing number of luxury brands that nowadays offer the possibility to produce and sell this type of garments. 

One of the main disadvantages affecting this market is the long waiting time necessary to obtain the finished product as well as the frequent visits necessary in the tailor's shop of reference. In this regard, a trend that is emerging in the Italian market of tailored suits is that of buying online. In fact, nowadays, an increasing number of e-commerce stores offer the possibility to buy tailored suits and receive them directly at home. Despite this, the physical store is still the distribution channel preferred by the Italian population for the purchase of this type of clothes, while the online purchase continues to affect more the segment of "ready-to-wear".

I found this study to be very complete yet concise. It gives the main trends of the market and does not limit itself to "basic" figures such as sales figures, but also deals with pricing strategies and trends according to the positioning of the players.
