1.1 Définition et périmètre d'étude

Les friperies sont les magasins qui vendent des vêtements d'occasion, des accessoires et tout ce qui est lié au marché de l'habillement. Il existe deux types de magasins d'occasion :

  • Les friperies gérées par des organisations caritatives, où les vêtements sont donnés par des particuliers ;
  • Les magasins fonctionnant selon le principe du dépôt-vente, où les particuliers vendent leurs vêtements à la friperie qui agit en tant qu'intermédiaire commercial.

Les friperies sont intéressantes à différents niveaux : les gens peuvent trouver des vêtements à bas prix, avec un style vintage et les vendeurs peuvent donner une seconde vie aux vieux vêtements.

Dans le monde entier, on constate un accroissement du marché de l’occasion, en particulier aux États-Unis où cette habitude est présente depuis longtemps.

En Italie, l'achat de vêtements d'occasion dans ces magasins devient de plus en plus populaire et chic. Les ventes sont principalement effectuées par les jeunes qui font preuve d'une conscience écologique de plus en plus marquée.

En 2019 en Italie, la valeur générée par l'économie de l'occasion a atteint 24 milliards d'euros, soit 1,3 % du PIB national.

Les magasins physiques sensibilisent et augmentent leur popularité, ils sont fréquentés non seulement par la génération Z, mais aussi par les baby-boomers. Néanmoins, Internet joue un rôle clé. Le succès des plateformes de vêtements d'occasion et de revente telles que Vinted et Depop est évident.
