1.1 Definizione e presentazione
Il termine chitarra deriva dal greco antico: κιθάρα / kithara: cetra. È uno strumento a corde pizzicate. Le corde sono disposte parallelamente alla tavola armonica e al manico, di solito tagliato da tasti, su cui le corde sono sostenute con una mano per produrre diverse note. Le corde sono pizzicate con l'altra mano: o con le unghie e i polpastrelli, o con un plettro. La chitarra più comune è quella a sei corde. La chitarra è la variante europea più diffusa della categoria di strumenti del tipo liuto e cassa armonica. I seguenti strumenti rientrano nella stessa categoria: balalaika, bouzouki, charango, liuto, mandolino, oud, tiorba, ukulele. Ma la chitarra si differenzia da questi strumenti per la sua forma, il numero di corde e il loro accordo più usuale. Varianti della chitarra classica sono chiamate regionalmente con altri nomi: viola, violão, cavaco e cavaquinho; tiple e shark.
Si prevede che il mercato globale della chitarra crescerà di 1,14 miliardi di dollari durante il periodo dal 2021 al 2025, con un CAGR del 5%.
Forse, quando si parla di chitarre, non tutti sanno che l'Italia ha una produzione che tutto il mondo guarda con invidia. La principale regione dove, negli anni '60, ha avuto inizio la produzione di chitarre elettriche è la regione Marche, e in particolare la piccola area tra le province di Ancona e Macerata. Le grandi marche di chitarre italiane che si svilupparono in tale zona furono così numerose che, almeno fino ad oggi, è impossibile risalire ai nomi di tutti gli artigiani che lavorarono su questi strumenti.
In ogni caso, fu in questi piccoli centri marchigiani che presero forma i grandi nomi del settore, tra cui marchi come Eko, Crucianelli e Welson. E ancora oggi questi marchi sono riconosciuti in tutto il mondo per la qualità dei loro prodotti.
