1.1 Definición y alcance del estudio

El neumático (segmento de neumático) se produce principalmente a partir de caucho y se infla con aire o nitrógeno. Principalmente proporciona agarre y absorción de impactos al rodear la llanta metálica de un vehículo. Los neumáticos se caracterizan por un patrón particular de la banda de rodamiento (simétrico, asimétrico, direccional) y un tipo específico de uso (dependiendo del tipo de vehículo, adecuado para clima nevado, vehículos de carrera, etc.).

También hay que distinguir entre la venta de neumáticos montados directamente en un automóvil recién matriculado ("equipo original") y las llamadas ventas de sustitución de neumáticos nuevos o recauchutados. También se hace una distinción entre los neumáticos para automóviles de salón, SUV y 4x4, furgonetas, camiones y otros vehículos.

El mercado francés sufrió un descenso en las ventas a finales de 2018. Sin embargo, algunos segmentos del mercado siguen siendo dinámicos, como los neumáticos para vehículos todoterreno y camiones, que se resisten a la tendencia descendente del sector. También tiene que hacer frente a la competencia internacional de Alemania y China en particular.

El mercado puede apoyarse en sus actores internacionales y sobre todo en el desarrollo de las ventas en línea de los "actores puros", aunque debiliten en parte la actividad de los revendedores especializados (en el punto de venta físico), que pierden cuota de mercado cada año.

El auge de las ventas en línea está contribuyendo a la tendencia a la baja de los precios favorables al consumidor, reduciendo los márgenes de los fabricantes y distribuidores. La caída de los precios alienta a los principales actores del sector a proponer ofertas cada vez más diferenciadas para justificar el aumento de los niveles de precios y a renovar constantemente sus gamas y las innovaciones que se ofrecen (por ejemplo, la tecnología "airless"). Así pues, los segmentos "premium" y "de gama alta" de la oferta van bien, registrando cifras de ventas crecientes.

La epidemia del Covid-19 ha tenido un fuerte impacto en el segmento de los neumáticos de equipo original, pero las ventas de recambio deben permanecer estables y permitir a los fabricantes capear este choque externo.
