1.1 INTRODUCCIÓN

El mercado de la música en streaming incluye todas las plataformas y reproductores que permiten la transmisión de música en línea. El mercado de la música en streaming forma parte del gigante que es la industria musical, con la llegada de las nuevas tecnologías impulsando cambios en los hábitos de consumo, el streaming de audio ha conseguido hacerse un hueco muy importante y sobre todo muy rápido en el mercado musical, en detrimento de las ventas físicas (CDs, vinilos, etc.).

A nivel mundial, los ingresos por streaming de música han crecido una media del 887% cada año durante 15 años (2005 - 2020) y el mercado aún no ha perdido el aliento, ya que ha crecido un 20% entre 2019 y 2020. En Francia, el streaming sigue el mismo impulso, con un crecimiento medio anual del 45% entre 2014 y 2020, sin haberse visto realmente afectado por la crisis sanitaria.

En Francia, el mercado de la música en streaming está dominado por los dos gigantes del sector, Deezer y Spotify, pero con la llegada de los GAFA, que cada vez toman más cuota de mercado con sus plataformas Apple Music, Youtube Music y Amazon Music

A pesar del innegable éxito del streaming, está sujeto a numerosas controversias, con movimientos como "Justicia en Spotify" que dan voz a la cuestión de la remuneración de los artistas por parte de las plataformas de streaming. A falta de una normativa, este mercado en crecimiento probablemente sufra cambios, sobre todo en lo que respecta a la reglamentación

Warner, a new way of remunerating musicians on its way to Deezer. - 13/11/2023
  • Deezer is implementing a new "artist-centric" remuneration model for France.
  • A second major player, Warner Music Group, is joining the movement.
  • Since October 1, streams in France by artists from Ed Sheeran's label have been counted according to this new method.
  • According to this new method, a listen counts double when it concerns artists exceeding 1,000 monthly streams with at least 500 unique listeners.
  • The Deezer platform also limits monetization to a maximum of 1,000 streams per user per month.
  • Deezer has undertaken an extensive clean-up of its 200 million-track catalog to eliminate non-musical content.

Deezer returns to subscriber growth - 27/10/2023

Sacem versus AI - 13/10/2023

  • Sacem uses an "opt-out" to limit the use of AI on its members' works.
  • According to the "Financial Times", major Universal Music Group (UMG) asked music streaming platforms to prevent their artists' tracks from being searched last April.

  • Deezer, in collaboration with Universal Music Group, plans to launch an artist-centric streaming model, first in France in Q4 2023, followed by other markets in 2024.
  • Deezer's catalog has grown from 90 to 200 million items of content over the past two years
  • In the new model, Deezer will award a "double bonus" to artists who exceed 1,000 monthly streams with at least 500 unique listeners.
