1.1 Introducción y alcance del estudio

La cría de bovinos incluye todas las actividades utilizadas para la reproducción de razas bovinas para el consumo humano en particular en los segmentos cárnico y lácteo.

El mercado de los ganaderos en Francia es, como todos los sectores cárnicos y lácteos, en ligera dificultad debido a los nuevos patrones de consumo de los últimos años, y a su imagen empañada relacionada con el abuso animal.

Sin embargo, Francia es una un importante caldo de cultivo para cabezas de ganado el primero en la Unión Europea. Así pues, los operadores franceses dominan en gran medida este mercado europeo altamente regulado y ofrecen productos de mayor valor añadido y más resistentes a este declive del sector. Además, la ganadería intensiva, con miles de explotaciones ganaderas, es casi inexistente en Francia.

Conscientes de esta fragilidad, los agricultores se agrupan cada vez más en grandes cooperativas con ventas de miles de millones de euros. Esto les permite aumento de la seguridad del suministro y de los precios y así disfrutar de un mayor poder de negociación.

Por último, los agricultores franceses tendrán que organizarse con presupuestos decrecientes tras la próxima Política Agrícola Común para el período 2021-2027. Además, los nuevos exigencias regulatorias en particular en la firma de contratos entre agricultores y compradores y hacia una transición más ecológica y orgánica.
