Hoy en día, el reparto de comida a domicilio ya no se limita a la entrega de hamburguesas, pizzas y sushi, sino que se ha abierto a un amplia gama de restaurantes Esto responde a las nuevas expectativas de los consumidores, que quieren disfrutar de nuevas experiencias culinarias, comer más sano y hacer pedidos de forma rápida y sencilla. Sin embargo, el mercado está teniendo más dificultades para despegar en Francia que en los países anglosajones, ya que no forma parte de la cultura francesa el hecho de recibir comidas preparadas a domicilio; los actores tienden a para dirigirse a los más jóvenes o la Generación Z, que son más receptivos a este modo de consumo.

El mercado europeo de reparto está creciendo fuertemente, con un aumento de casi 20% anual entre 2015 y 2020 . Asimismo, las cifras de crecimiento del mercado francés son similares, y los expertos incluso prevén un crecimiento anual de más del 25% entre 2018 y 2022 . El nuevo mercado de la restauración, que representa casi el 6% del mercado de la restauración, está impulsando a los restauradores tradicionales a adaptar su oferta al modelo de entrega.

Si algunos actores destacan como Deliveroo, Uber Eats o Just Eat, el mercado está en constante evolución con la aparición de nuevos actores como el minoristas del mercado de masas que están empezando a entregar comidas preparadas a domicilio, o restaurantes fantasma (restaurantes virtuales sólo disponibles a través de Internet para la entrega en línea).
