1.1 Definición y alcance del estudio
La dendroenergía se utiliza con fines energéticos, para producir calor, electricidad o biocombustibles de segunda generación. Puede utilizarse como combustible primario pero también puede transformarse industrialmente en subproductos (sólidos, líquidos o gaseosos) que también son combustibles.
El la energía de la madera es la primera fuente de energía renovable en Francia (casi el 40% del total). Sin embargo, a pesar de su prometedora posición en el sector de las energías renovables, su popularidad aún no se ha establecido en el sector energético general de Francia . En efecto, de los 245 tep (tonelada equivalente de petróleo) de energía consumida en Francia en 2019, menos del 4% proviene de la dendroenergía .
La cubierta forestal de Francia es muy importante para la dendroenergía en el país, ya que de ahí procede la fuente primaria del producto. De hecho, el bosque cubre 28% del territorio de Francia metropolitana (propiedad pública y privada) y se extiende sobre 75.000 hectáreas al año.
En cuanto a los tipos de fuentes de energía de la madera, hay cuatro tipos principales:
- El troncos de madera (leña): procede de la madera redonda en bruto y requiere poca transformación
- Pellets de madera Se produce mediante la compresión de la madera en rollo y suele ser de madera dura, aunque puede ser una mezcla de madera dura y blanda
- Virutas de madera : Fabricado con madera triturada
- Carbón vegetal Se produce calentando la madera y eliminando todo el agua y el oxígeno que contiene
En este informe, el ámbito de aplicación abarcará principalmente los troncos de madera (leña) y los pellets de madera, ya que son los más importantes en el mercado francés.
El sector residencial es, con diferencia, el que más energía de la madera consume, con 70% del consumo total y, por tanto, es también el sector que más contribuye al gasto global de esta fuente de energía. Aparte del consumo residencial, el principal motivo de consumo de dendroenergía es la calefacción (más del 90% del consumo total de dendroenergía).
Más allá de la calefacción doméstica que sigue siendo la principal salida al mercado, el uso de la dendroenergía también se está desarrollando en el calefacción industrial y urbana que han progresado muy rápidamente desde 2010.
Por último, el mercado de la dendroenergía en Francia está muy segmentado, ya que depende en gran medida de las actividades locales y regionales.

- Granuloé is Voé's first production unit for pellets made from recycled wood, located in Labourse, near Béthune (Pas-de-Calais).
- Voé was founded in 2020 and has 10 employees.
- Voé achieved sales of 1 million euros.
- Voé operates 3 biomass boiler plants, with a further 5 under construction and 10 planned.
- The investment for the first Granuloé pilot unit is 3 million euros.
- Granuloé will produce 3,000 tonnes of pellets a year, heating 3,000 homes annually.
- Voé aims to open 10 to 15 production units similar to Granuloé, for a total output of 60,000 to 80,000 tonnes by 2030.
