Las embarcaciones de recreo son barcos, a vela o motorizado usado en un ambiente de ocio a diferencia de los barcos profesionales y de regata. Normalmente esta clase de barco favorece confort y seguridad .
La industria de la navegación de recreo involucra a varios actores, entre ellos:

- otros servicios, tales como arriendo
Este mercado se puede segmentar por tipo de producto ofrecido: barco de propulsión (vela o motor) y por tamaño de barco (desde pequeñas embarcaciones de menos de 4 metros hasta yates de más de 20 metros de eslora).
