Herbs, spices, soy sauces, and chilli sauces all performed well in 2016, with retail value growth rates of 7%, 5%, and 6%, respectively.

However, the figures for 2016 were not encouraging for ketchup and mayonnaise, which stayed flat and even saw some decline in growth. Mustard and salad dressings fared no better in 2016.

More disposable income and consumers’ search for convenience in cooking, as well as the introduction of new products, and theimplementation of different marketing strategies are expected to boost revenue growth. As far as market trends go, it is expected that natural and organic products will be in greater demand as more people turn to home cooking.
