Quantum computing: multiple challenges 20/08/2023
- According to Hyperion, the nascent quantum computing market would have accounted for over $600 million in revenues by 2022, while IDC estimates that it would have exceeded $1 billion.
- IDC still expects very strong market growth, with average annual growth of 48% between now and 2027.
- IDC has revised its outlook downwards, indicating that the quantum computing market should be worth "only" 7.6 billion euros in four years' time, compared with the previously hoped-for 8.6 billion euros.
- A report by McKinsey indicates a 61% drop in the number of patent applications for quantum technologies in 2022 compared with 2021.
- Quantonation, an investment fund, has launched a second quantum fund with the aim of raising over 200 million euros. Their first fund raised 91 million euros.
