Hennessy is a cognac merchant specializing in the marketing of cognac in France and abroad.
Hennessy is a cognac merchant house founded at the end of the 18th century, which has since been acquired by LVMH and has become the group's main instrument for exporting cognac to over 160 countries.
In order to reach, and then exceed, its target of 10 million cases sold by 2020 (a target that will be called into question with the Covid-19 crisis), Hennessy announced in 2018 that it was investing around €1 billion over 10 years to build a new production line and new cellars.

- This success is due to the big houses and their unrivalled marketing inventiveness in the wine and spirits sector. Brands have tapped into the taste of Afro-Americans for beverages synonymous with refinement and wealth.
- The second success factor is the weight of the industry's four major houses: Hennessy (LVMH, owner of Les Echos), Martell (Pernod Ricard), Remy Martin (Cointreau) and Courvoisier (Suntory). They claim over 80% of the market
- The third key to success is inventiveness. The latest innovation is "craft" cognac, based on the notion of terroir and craftsmanship. Francis Abecassis, head of a 200-hectare estate, has broken new ground in this field. He has established the "single estate cognac" branded ABK6, Leyrat and Reviseur.
